Hi! I am Lauren Motl. I originally hail from Minneapolis, MN but now call the Mile-High City my home. My goal is to create design that is not only beautiful, but thoughtful and strategic. With roots in the Midwest, I bring a strong work ethic to the table and use my skills to go above and beyond on projects. To view my resumé, please click here.
My career goals are to:
1. Further my career development and cultivate my expertise
2. Use my knowledge to the fullest extent to create better, more effective design solutions
3. Work with a collaborative team with talented people
About My Skills:
I began my career at a traditional print/branding agency, giving me a solid foundation in traditional graphic design and am proficient in Adobe inDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I then transitioned into digital/visual design, taking the skills I already had and further honing them for the interactive space and am very familiar with user personas, sitemaps, wireframes, grids, responsive design, pixels, and content management systems. While I'm not a developer, I understand some HTML and CSS and have worked hand-in-hand with developers to understand functionality and explore different types of interactions.
Most recently, I have worked as a visual designer in the interactive space while also managing projects. I have experience developing timelines and budgets for projects, putting together and presenting proposals, and working directly with clients to manage their expectations, budgets and timelines.
When I'm not designing, you can usually find me with my nose in a book or in the kitchen, running some culinary experiments. Like a lot of people, I'm addicted to coffee and love a good pour-over and I am on the hunt for that perfect bean. I also love being outdoors, especially in a beautiful state like Colorado, and have recently gotten into biking.
Homestate: Minnesota (you betch'ya)
Favorite Food: Tacos
New Hobbies: Learning German and Biking
Fun Fact: I have two very fluffy, very blind cats (they're brothers and yes, they came that way)
